Why we started
Independent hotels compete on the same OTA listings as Marriott and Hilton, but without the revenue desk or fraud operations team those chains run. For years we watched properties lose RevPAR on static pricing while absorbing chargeback costs that the chains simply push back to their acquirers with professional dispute teams. The two problems share a root cause: the same booking data that would support a better rate also contains the signals that flag a fraudulent reservation.
We founded TurnStay in 2025 to close that gap. Not by adding more software to manage, but by running both jobs in one pass on the signal that already exists in every incoming booking.
We are based in Cape Town, a market where independent hospitality is fiercely competitive and where a single chargeback cycle can erase a week of room revenue for a small operator. That context shaped every product decision we have made. We are not building for chain properties or enterprise hotel groups. We build for the owner-operator with 15 to 80 rooms who cannot afford a dedicated revenue manager but competes directly against properties that have one.

Spent years building payment and booking systems for independent lodging operators across Southern Africa, working directly at the intersection of revenue operations and payment risk. Founded TurnStay in 2025 to give independent properties access to the same algorithmic pricing tools that chain revenue desks use.
Priya Naidoo
CTO & Co-Founder
She built payment risk and fraud-scoring systems for a regional PSP, flagging stolen-card transactions. Fraud patterns clustered heavily in lodging, so she brought that focus to hospitality. She leads scoring infrastructure and the model pipeline at TurnStay.
